Joep Hövels
Joep Hövels is facade consultant and co-founder of Frontwise Facades, and has 12 years experience in facade engineering in various markets: in Amsterdam whilst working for Frontwise Facades and in London, Hong Kong and Berlin whilst working for Arup. Joep’s passion for façade engineering was triggered during his university time at the TU Delft when visiting various buildings with both well and badly detailed facades. In his view façade engineering can make or break the architectural design of a building, as in the end all is in the details. In his experience a façade engineer can make significant contributions to the project during all design stages and construction stage resulting in better facades during the lifetime of a building.

Dominique Vosmaer
Dominique’s admiration for the power of nature was triggered when she started experimenting with biocomposites after graduating her Masters in Building Technology at the TUDelft. She conducted a research in the sustainability of composites in architecture after which she pursued her career by working for a supplier producing composite and biocomposite products. In 2010 she decided to move to London to join the facade engineering team of BuroHappold Engineering, a large independent engineering and consultancy firm active in infrastructure and architectural projects all across the globe. Working with renowned architects like Foster + Partners and Simpson Haugh gave her a wealth of experience in both high rise and low rise projects on all design and construction phases up to completion of the project.

Leonie van Ginkel
Leonie has a passion for façade design. In her work she combines architecture, structural design and building physics through the various design and construction phases in an integrated approach for the building skin. She is trained in architecture and building technology at the Delft University of Technology with a specialization in façade engineering. Her strong interest in manufacturing techniques was first sparked during her internship at a façade contractor as well as during her experience working for a façade fabricator. During her time working for Arup, she was based both in New York City and Amsterdam, where she specialized further in façade engineering, building physics and sustainability working on a wide selection of complex projects. Her experience ranges from the early concept design phases through completion of the project on site.
